Stroke : Long Term Rehabilitation and Management

Stroke : Long Term Rehabilitation and Management

This Masterclass will focus entirely on how to promote health and well-being for those stroke survivors who may have come to the end of their rehabilitation with a statutory organisation, for example the NHS. Research suggests that progress can continue up to two years post-stroke and even longer, depending on the individual person affected and type of stroke survived.

We will teach principles of long term management, using self – management tools currently available on-line. Altered muscle tone, visual disturbance, perceptual challenges such as spatial inattentiveness and cognitive dysfunction are often present and it is vital that care-givers and support staff understand how to manage these presentations in the longer term.
